"On March 29th, 2022, with the release of Chrome M100 to the stable channel, we’ll turn off Lite mode, a Chrome feature for Android that we introduced back in 2014 as Chrome Data Saver to help people use less mobile data on their phones and load web pages faster", Craig - Chrome Support Manager said.

Then he added "In recent years we’ve seen a decrease in cost for mobile data in many countries, and we’ve shipped many improvements to Chrome to further minimize data usage and improve web page loading. Although Lite mode is going away, we remain committed to ensuring Chrome can deliver a fast webpage loading experience on mobile".

If you enabled the Lite mode on Google Chrome, then you will use less mobile data and you may load web pages faster. Lite mode in Chrome for Android works by compressing your visited pages and some of your web traffic may go through Google servers before being downloaded to your device.

When the page is loading slow, Lite mode will reduce the size of the website and improves the loading speed on the slow network connection. Lite mode also caches most website files on local storage that avoid re-downloading the files from the server.

How to enable Lite mode on Google Chrome?

1. Open the Chrome app on your phone.
2.  tap on ‘More’ that appears as the three dots at the top right.
3.  tap on ‘Settings’.
Under "Advanced," tap on Lite mode.
4.  turn on the Lite mode.

and when you're using Lite mode:
1. Lite mode won’t work with incognito mode.
2. it will not be easy to some websites to find your location.
3. You might not be able to use pages on your internal company site.
4. When you go to HTTPS, Chrome sends the URL to Google to load faster. Only the URL is sent, and Chrome doesn't share your cookies or personal data with Google.
