What is Pop up ads malware?

Pop-up ads made by a site that displays fake messages to trick you into subscribing to its notifications. with some  fake messages that the pop up sites will show to trick you into clicking the “Allow” button like:

• To access to the video, click "Allow"

• Click "ALLOW" to play the video, Stream and download available

• Can't play this video! Browser may block video
• autoplay... Click "Allow" to play the video

• Press "Allow", to watch the video

• To access, click allow!
• If you are 18+ click allow

• Download is ready. Click Allow to download your file.
• Press Allow to verify that you are not a robot.

When you see such messages You should not click on the “Allow” button, and If you click on it, you will start seeing many pop-ups  on your PC or phone, even when the browser is closed. 

Why I see these pop-up ads on the screen?

You are seeing the these type of advertisements because your computer is infected with a malicious program or a site that you have visited has redirected your browser to this page to generate advertising revenue.

Here are few signs can tell you if your computer is infected:

• Advertisements appear in places they shouldn’t be.
• Your web browser’s homepage has changed without your permission.
• Your browser redirect to questionable sites.
• Web pages that you typically visit are not displaying properly;
• Browser pop-ups appear which recommend fake updates or other software.

How to Remove fake Pop up ads Automatically?

The easiest method to stop pop-up ads is to run an antivirus program has ability for detecting adware and fake pop ups. 

Go to Programs and Features, uninstall programs you don’t remember that you have installed it by yourself, or the last programs you installed just before pop-ups appeared on your browser for the first time. 

from Windows 7:

1. Click Start.
2. In the Start menu select Control Panel.
3. Find and select Programs and Features or Uninstall a program.
4. Select the program.
5. Click Uninstall.

from Windows 10:

1. Press and hold Windows key Windows key and hit X key.
2. Select Programs and Features from the menu.
3. Select the program.
4. Click Uninstall.

Note: After removing the adware you might still need to disable Pop up ads notifications manually.

How to Delete Adware App From File Explorer?

Note: This step is for experienced computer users, You might accidentally delete something you weren’t supposed to. Sometimes malicious programs don’t show up in Programs and Features.

Check these folders By Copy and paste them into the address bar of File Explorer.

• %ProgramFiles%,
• %ProgramFiles(x86)%,
• %AppData%
• %LocalAppData%

In case you see some files with unfamiliar names

Search in google for those names to find out if they belong to legitimate programs.

Delete the ones that are obviously associated with malware. If you are not sure, back them up before deleting them (copy to a different location in your drive).

How to remove unknown extensions from your web browser?

Google Chrome extensions

1. Click on three dots menu button three dots menu at the top right corner of the window.
2. Select More tools ⇒ Extensions.
3. Click REMOVE to uninstall an extension.
4. Click Remove in the dialog box.

Mozilla Firefox extensions

1. Click on menu button Menu button and select Add-ons.
2. Go to Extensions tab.
3. To uninstall an add-on, click on Remove button next to it.

Opera extensions

1. Press Ctrl +Shift + E keys to open extensions manager.
2. To remove an add-on, click on the x button next to it.
3. Click OK when asked to confirm.

Extensions from Safari

1. On the top menu select Safari => Preferences.
2. Select Extensions tab.
3. Select an extension you want to delete and click Uninstall button next to it.

How to Block Pop-up ads in Browser?

Chrome Pop up

1. Open chrome://settings/content/notifications (just copy this and paste into the address bar of Chrome).
2. Delete all rogue notifications by clicking three vertical dots button next to each and selecting Remove.

Firefox pop ups

1. Click on menu button Menu button and select Options.
2. Select Privacy & Security on the left side of the window.
3. Scroll down to Permissions section and click Settings… button next to Notifications.
4. Find sites you down’t want to see notifications from, click on drop-down menu next to each and select Block.
5. Click Save Changes button.
