Add the OpenDNS address to your WiFi network

1- Open the browser and enter the 192.168.1.1 page.

DNS settings are supported by all router manufacturers, whether you are using Netgear, D-Link, TP-Link, or any other router.

2- You will find DNS settings available on the main page. Just search well and you will find it in the name of DNS, DNS Settings, or DNS Configuration, or for example, in my case I go to Interface Setup, then LAN, then find it below under the name DNS.

3- Change the DNS setting from automatic to manual. Enter in the following two boxes:

Save and restart your router to apply these changes. It may take a few minutes for the changes to be made to your router.

After restarting the router, try to access this OpenDNS welcome page, if it appears to you (the welcome message), it was successful.

If it does not appear, just make sure that you have done the above steps as it should.

This means that the DNS settings have been successfully configured on the router to use the OpenDNS service.

Create a free OpenDNS Home account

Next, we need to create an OpenDNS account for free personal use. Head to the main OpenDNS registration page, fill in the required details, and finally click on "Get A Free Account".

You will receive a confirmation message to the email you entered to verify your email address. After clicking on the link sent to you, your account will be activated and directly accessed.

After activation, you can log in to the OpenDNS platform using the same information you entered during registration.

Determine the IP of the network you use in your OpenDNS account

After logging in to the OpenDNS Control Panel, click on Settings. The option to create or add your network will be displayed by the IP.

Simply press the [Add this network] button, give it a name, and press DONE, for example "Home WiFi".

Now the IP of your ISP is set with OpenDNS.

Banning Tik Tok domain names

After performing the fifth step, you can now block the addresses of the TikTok application from the settings of the web content filtering.

Open your WiFi network by clicking on the IP address we added in the previous step in the Your networks section.

You will be taken to the web content filtering settings.

Enable statistics and records

Finally, enable logging of statistics and logs in OpenDNS. Go to the (Stats and logs) page under (Web Content Filtering) on the same page we are in.

Just enable the (Enable stats and logs) option and press the [Apply] button.

The Tik Tok application has been successfully blocked

After blocking all domain names (step 5), give OpenDNS some time (1 hour or sometimes more) to make the changes. After that, you can check whether the TikTok app is blocked or not.

While you will be able to access and open the app normally, TikTok videos will not play. You may also get an error message that you cannot connect to the Internet even if you are connected to a WiFi network.
